Advanced Mining offers the world's widest range of equipment for rock drilling, rock excavation, processing, demolition, bulk-materials handling and equipment for surface and underground mining.
Sandvik's extensive range of tools for down-the-hole drilling includes hammers, drill bits and tool systems for simultaneous drilling-and-casing through difficult overburden. Combining advanced materials technology with skillful design focusing on performance, simplicity and endurance, our DTH tools give high productivity, great reliability and low operating costs.
The new Sandvik RH460 hammer takes down-the-hole drilling to higher levels. It has been developed for superior productivity in variable ground conditions.
Higher impact energy is achieved at lower air consumption, maximizing productivity and lowering costs. RH460 hammers are available industry standard shanks for greater product flexibility.
The complete RH460 series of hammers for DTH drilling will consist of 5 standard size hammers from 3 1/2"– 8". The 4", 5" and 5" g (heavy duty) are launched. These are to be followed by the remaining sizes. All versions of hammers are designed to utilize bits with generic shank types.
Sandvik DTH hammers and drill bits are designed together to work in perfect unison, giving high penetration rates, long service life and low costs. The RH550-series hammers and bits features solutions, which optimizes impact-energy transmission into the rock. With no foot valve, a reversible casing and very few parts, they are reliable, easy to service and fast.

Sandvik offers two types of solutions for casing and drilling simultaneously.
The CDC system drills straight and comparably deep holes and has to withstand the toughest conditions. Therefore the system is designed for easy withdrawal of the pilot bit, hammer, and drill pipes, leaving the casings and ring bit in the ground whereas the rest of the system can be reused. This system is also the more efficient when it comes to drilling straight holes through bolders and other types of overburdens.
The TUBEX XL system on the other hand is the preferred option when the holes are relatively shallow, and you quickly want to move on to drilling your next hole. Leaving the TUBEX XL casing shoe in the ground is more cost efficient than using the CDC system in this case. It is also the preferred system when drilling extra deep holes, as the pilot bit and reamer can be changed without pulling out the casing.
